Storefront Translations
Translate every customer-facing wishlist message into your store's other languages.
Overview
If your store sells in more than one language, you can provide a translated version of every piece of wishlist text — button labels, notifications, empty states, and multi-wishlist prompts — for each language your store supports. Shoppers browsing in a secondary language automatically see the translated text.
Benefits
- Delivers a fully localized wishlist experience for international customers
- Covers every customer-facing message across buttons, notifications, and the wishlist page
- Includes an auto-translate option to save time, with the ability to fine-tune wording afterward
Where to Find It
Apps ↓ BRIX: Wishlist Plus ↓ Settings ↓ (Any settings screen with customer-facing text) ↓ Translate icon button
Available on: Product Page Wishlist Button, Floating Wishlist Button, Notifications, Wishlist Page, and Multiple Wishlists settings.
How to Use
- First, make sure your store has additional languages configured under your Shopify admin's Settings → Languages.
- Open any wishlist settings screen that has customer-facing text (for example, Wishlist Page).
- Click the Translate icon button near the top of the screen.
- Choose a language from the dropdown.
- Either manually type a translation for each field, or click Auto-translate to machine-translate all fields at once, then adjust wording as needed.
- Click Save in the translation modal, then Save again on the main settings screen.
Available Settings
Translation is available per text field on each of the following screens, with an Auto-translate option on most:
| Screen | What's Translatable |
|---|---|
| Product page wishlist button | Before/after add-to-wishlist text, loading text |
| Floating wishlist button | Float button text |
| Notifications | Success, duplicate, added-to-cart, removed, share-copied, and error messages |
| Wishlist page | Empty state title/message, page title, share label, cart/checkout button text |
| Multiple wishlists | Login prompt, create/rename/delete labels, empty states, move dialog text |
Best Practices
- Add your store's additional languages in Shopify's own Languages settings first — the translate modal can't offer a language that isn't configured on your store.
- Use Auto-translate as a starting point, then review the results yourself, especially for shorter labels where machine translation can miss context (e.g. button text).
- Keep translated text roughly the same length as the original where possible, especially for button labels, so your layout doesn't break on longer languages.
Notes
- Wishlist text translations are stored and managed entirely within the app — they are separate from Shopify's own theme translation files.
- If a store has no secondary languages configured, the translate modal simply explains how to add one rather than showing empty translation fields.
- The theme app extension itself ships no built-in language file, so without configuring translations here, all wishlist text defaults to English regardless of your store's other languages.
Troubleshooting
The translate button doesn't show any languages to choose from. Add additional languages under your Shopify admin's Settings → Languages first, then return to the wishlist settings screen.
I translated the text but customers still see English. Confirm you clicked Save in both the translation modal and the main settings screen. Also confirm the customer is actually viewing your store in that secondary language.
Auto-translate produced awkward wording. Auto-translate is a starting point — edit any field manually after running it.
