Search & Filters

What customers can search and filter by on your live storefront locator.

Overview

The storefront locator gives customers an address/name search, an optional "use my location" button, and a set of filters you turn on from Appearance: tags, open-now, and country. On the storefront, any filters you've enabled live together in an All filters panel that customers open, adjust, and apply as a batch - they don't need a separate control for each one. Results can be sorted, paginated, and clustered on the map.

Benefits

  • Customers can search by address, store name, or product name - whichever modes you enable
  • Tag, open-now, and country filters live in one "All filters" panel, so adjusting several at once doesn't re-run the search after every click
  • Clustering keeps a busy map readable when you have many nearby locations

Where to Find It

Apps → BRIX: Store Locator & Maps → Settings → Appearance → Location Filters / Search Settings

How to Use

  1. Open Settings → Appearance.
  2. Under Search Settings, choose which search modes to allow (Store name, Product name - address/location search is always available) and pick a default.
  3. Under Location Filters, turn on Tag Filters and/or the Open Now filter, and optionally turn on the address search box and "extend search from a selected location's center."
  4. Turn on the country filter if relevant, and choose whether it displays as a checklist or dropdown.
  5. Under Map Radius, set the search radius unit, default, and maximum.
  6. Under Additional Settings, turn on Auto-detect Visitor Location and/or Location Clustering if you want them.
  7. On the storefront, customers can also click Use My Location to search near their current position (with their browser's permission).
  8. Whichever of Tags, Open Now, and Country you've turned on, customers reach them together through an All filters button (shown as a filter icon, with a small badge once any filter is applied). Opening it slides in a panel where they can adjust any combination, then click Apply filters to run the search, or Clear all to reset just that panel.

Best Practices

  • Enable only the search modes that make sense for your catalog - product name search is most useful if locations carry different product ranges.
  • Use consistent, short tags so the tag filter list stays easy to scan.
  • Set working hours on your locations if you turn on the Open Now filter - locations without hours won't behave as expected there.

Notes

  • Changes inside the All filters panel don't take effect until the customer clicks Apply filters - toggling a tag on and off doesn't re-run the search after every click, only once they confirm.
  • There are two different "Clear all" controls: the one inside the All filters panel only resets that panel's Tags/Open Now/Country selections, while a separate Clear all in the main search row resets the search box and location too.
  • On narrower (mobile) screens, the address search box and Use My Location move into their own Search panel, separate from the All filters panel - on desktop they stay inline in the main search row.
  • "Use My Location" relies on the customer's browser location permission - there's no IP-based fallback if they decline or their browser doesn't support it.
  • There's currently no "search this area" control that re-runs a search when a customer pans the map - search is driven by the search bar, radius, and filters only.
  • Custom field values are shown on a location's detail card but aren't currently available as a filter - see Custom Fields.

Troubleshooting

A customer's "Use My Location" button doesn't work. This requires the customer to allow location access in their browser; if they decline, or their browser doesn't support geolocation, they'll need to search by address instead.

The tag filter doesn't show any tags. Add tags to your locations first - see Adding & Editing a Location - the filter only appears once real tags exist.

A customer says they toggled a filter but the results didn't change. Selections inside the All filters panel are staged until Apply filters is clicked - toggling a tag or checking a country alone doesn't run the search.
